20 Years of Wildlife Garden – Our Story

Wildlife Garden was established in 2005, born from a love of nature and a determination to craft something truly distinctive.

Our tale began unexpectedly. After an accident, our founder, Helena, spent her recovery strolling through the neighbourhood, admiring the gardens she passed. On these walks, an idea emerged: to create functional yet decorative birdhouses that would spread joy in any garden. Joined by her husband Robert, a devoted birdwatcher, they started developing and testing products in their own backyard.

Our First Product

The first “Multiholk,” inspired by Sweden’s traditional red-painted cottages, quickly became a cherished classic. Its innovation lay in seamlessly combining winter feeding with the offer of a nesting site come spring. Upon its market debut, it was honoured as the “Garden Product of the Year” at Elmia Garden, the largest horticultural fair in the Nordic region. Today, the Multiholk is available in a range of styles, suiting everything from sleek contemporary homes to endearing rustic cabins.

From a Basement to a Beautiful Office

Starting out in a modest garage, Wildlife Garden has grown into an international company represented by around 1,000 retailers worldwide. Our office is now nestled in Båstad, surrounded by meadows, horse paddocks, and beech woodland. Our team of twelve remains driven by the same guiding principle as in the early days – uniting artisanship, nature, and timeless design to create products that spread joy.

Nature as Our Inspiration

Our products draw deeply upon nature’s palette, shapes, and patterns. Each piece is designed to be both practical and decorative, with genuine artisanship ensuring that every item has its own unique character. The result is a timeless, playful aesthetic that resonates year after year, unaffected by passing trends.

From Sketch to Finished Product

Our design process begins with a simple sketch, evolving into a 3D prototype and, ultimately, a finished product. The entire design process takes place in-house, from that first light-hearted pencil stroke to a 3D-printed model that reveals how the product comes into being.

We work closely with our long-standing suppliers in China, fostering personal relationships and making regular visits to ensure our exacting quality standards are consistently met.

Our Design Philosophy

Sustainability is a core pillar of our work. We choose materials and paint carefully to minimise environmental impact. Our sturdy cardboard packaging protects our products during transport. By offering spare parts, we aim to ensure our products have a long, well-loved lifespan.

Our journey is about more than simply making products; it is a tribute to nature and an effort to inspire others to appreciate and care for it. With every birdhouse, interior detail, and garden accessory, we seek to bring nature’s beauty into everyday life, spreading joy in homes and gardens worldwide.
