About the European Mole
The European Mole is a small mammal that can grow up to 11-16cm in length. It has a pointed nose and small eyes. Its sensitive nose and good hearing compensates for its poor eyesight. The mole lives alone in subterranean tunnels that it digs out using its strong front paws. It moves quickly, up to 67 metres/minute, while hunting worms and insects. In order to find food, it continuously digs new tunnels, so it's easy to see where it is because of the mounds of recently dug out earth left behind.
