DecoBird Eurasian Teal is a handsome wooden bird featuring the male's distinct coloured plumage as he lays down, taking in the scenery. As an interior piece, it's a perfect table decoration in any room–it even works as a paperweight.
This charming bird carving is Swedish-designed and handmade in wood and water-based paints. As the bird is handmade, each piece possesses delicate variations in detail, lending personality to each individual.
The Eurasian teal's scientific name is considered sound-imitating and refers to the male's sound in the spring, "kriick". Carl von Linné first described this little waterfowl in 1758 in Systema Naturae.
The teal builds its nest in woodland under protective vegetation, often on the ground under a bush near water. They line their nest with dry leaves and down in anticipation of 8 to 11 greenish eggs.
We create our handcrafted DecoBirds in close collaboration with ornithological experts, product designers and skilled artisans. The result is an ever-growing family of birds where each piece is unique.
DecoBirds are perfect gifts for bird- and nature lovers. At home, they are charming decorations and design elements suitable for modern and more generous styles. Their lifelike appearance makes them ideal in educational settings, and schools use them as teaching aids and playful classroom decorations. Thanks to their authentic, detailed expression, they are also popular as collector's items.
