About the woodpecker
The woodpecker is a beautiful black and white bird with a red belly. It spends most of its time close to tree trunks and often hides from view. The bouncy flight pattern and clear colouring still makes it relatively easy to see as it skips from tree to tree. The loud drumming sound of their pecking can be heard clearly in spring.
