The blackbird magnet is a realistic bird's head carved out of wood and painted by hand using water-based paints. There are six birds in this range of magnets, all inspired by our DecoBirds.
A blackbird can be over 20 years old! Once upon a time it was a shy forest bird that hardly ever visited settlements, but since the 20th century it has become more common in parks and gardens which it enriches with its varied and persistent song. In the summer it feeds on insects and earthworms which the blackbird drags out of the lawn. During the autumn and winter it feeds on mushrooms and fruit instead, which it prefers to eat on the ground. Windfalls which are allowed to remain are a much appreciated winter supply.
The male is recognized by his black feathers and brightly yellow beak. The female is dark brown with a speckled belly. According to old tradition, if you see a blackbird in the winter there will be a change in weather.
