About the Wren

The wren's Latin name (Troglodytes troglodytes) comes from the Greek words meaning "creeper" and "cave dweller" – a nod to its habit of hiding in small crevices and corners. This tiny brown bird with its characteristic short, upright tail moves restlessly close to the ground, picking insects from cracks in bark and stone.
