Description
A male Bluethroat, with a brilliant blue breast and clear singing, is a bird not to be missed in northern Scandinavia or the Alps in the summer.
Appearance
A slender and elegant bird, about 15 cm. In summer, the male is recognized by the blue bib by a small red spot (the northern breed) or white spot (in the rest of Europe, but also the Nordic countries). The female is more discreet, with a chin in yellow-beige tone, sometimes with a hint of blue. Both male and female have a powerful white eyebrow streak.Similar birds
Even the Whinchat has a clear eyebrow streak and wiggles with the tail like the bluethroat, but gives a chubbier impression.Sounds and song
