Description
The flock, which consists of thousands of birds, lives a nomadic life. They can move vast distances in order to find food, mostly grass seeds and herbs. In the dry central parts of Australia they can be found in the bushes and grasslands, as well as in open forested areas.
The wild budgerigar has a green belly with wave patterned black and yellow topside. The species Latin name “undulatis” means wave patterned, like the pattern on the budgerigar’s wings.
The budgerigar is very good at mimicking different sounds.
