Description
Spotted flycatchers appreciate a bird bath in the garden. It will frequent the bath a lot, not only to drink but to take a proper bath.
Appearance
Somewhat larger than the other flycatchers with proportionally larger wings. The back is an even greyish brown except for the crown with its lengthways stripes.
Similar bird
A mottled grey without white on the wings. The female blackcap has a reddish-brown crown.
Sounds and song
Has a fine, thin call. The song is seldom heard.
