Clean your nesting box!
Birds’ nests often attract lice and other parasites and if not removed they may hibernate in the nest. This can irritate the following years brood. In addition, a clean nest will be more attractive to brids looking for a place to spend the night during winter.
We recommend removing the nest in October or after the first frost. Use boiling water to kill off any parasites - never use insecticides in the nesting box as it can be harmful to the birds. Use gloves and wash your hands thoroughly after you are finished. Avoid inhaling dust from the nest.
* It is also important to keep a good hygiene level at the bird table as this helps avoid any diseases being spread among birds.
